A Look Ahead into the New Year

A Look Ahead into the New Year

By Doug Coffey, PE, President

Everything that I have read regarding the state of the construction industry throughout the country and in the Midwest for 2018 has been positive. Because architecture and engineering services precede most construction projects, this optimism is an indication that design firms have and will continue to be busy as well. At HAWA, this is certainly true. Based on the new construction projects being announced, the overall strength of the economy, and the number of requests for proposals we are seeing, our expectation is that 2018 will continue to be a good for the design industry. To meet this growing demand and to ensure that we are able to meet your engineering needs, we have taken many steps to position ourselves for growth and superior service.

One of these steps is to continue to grow our Cincinnati operations. Our portfolio of work in Cincinnati continues to expand, as does our team. Another step is continuing to build our leadership. Promoting from within is something we strive for as it allows dedicated staff to take on more responsibility in both engineering and leadership roles. To this end, we are pleased to announce three internal promotions:

  • Jeff Ortman has been promoted to Executive Vice President, a role that will involve him more in the business side operations of the company. He will continue to maintaining his client relationship, business development and project involvement responsibilities.
  • Ned Heminger has been promoted to Chief Engineer. Working with our mechanical and electrical department managers and our Cincinnati office manager, Ned will oversee our engineering operations in addition to working with his clients.
  • Sean Brandon has been promoted to Associate based on his expanding role as a senior electrical designer and project manager. Sean has developed into a key person in our electrical engineering staff and his promotion is well deserved.

As we enter our 64th year in business, our dedication to quality engineering services has not changed. However, with our growth in geographic markets and leadership changes, we have taken the opportunity to update our brand, starting with a new logo, used here for the first time. Look for an expanded website later this spring!
We wish you the very best in 2018 and look forward to meeting your needs.
