General Description

The 30-year-old power distribution system within OCLC’s facility, including medium-voltage electrical service, backup power system and unit substations, required replacement. This project was broken into four separate phases to allow the replacement to occur to minimize risk and interruptions to the data center operations.

Key Features
  • Two 1,000-kW generators and the associated generator paralleling gear and transfer switches were replaced
  • Three unit substations were replaced with high-efficiency transformers and new distribution sections
  • Existing medium-voltage service entrance, which included redundant utility feeders with automatic transfer systems, was replaced
  • Econophase pumped refrigerant cooling units
  • Green roof
