Charity Newsies Annual Paper Sale

On Saturday, December 8, Charity Newsies will hit the streets of Franklin County to sell a special edition of the Columbus Dispatch to raise funds for children in need. The mission of Charity Newsies states “that no child shall be kept out of school for lack of adequate clothing,” and 100 percent of the money raised by the organization’s volunteers goes towards purchasing new clothing for local children.

HAWA Principal Jim Porter (center), along with his father and three of his brothers, will be among the volunteers collecting donations this year. His family has stood on the same corner in downtown New Albany for more than 30 years to help fulfill the organization’s mission.

Since its founding in 1907, Charity Newsies has helped more than half a million children in Central Ohio, providing clothing for 12,000 students in the 2017-2018 school year alone. To learn more about this very worthy cause, please visit the Charity Newsies website or contact Jim Porter.
