The Ohio Department of Health is preparing to move into a new state-of-the-art lab to expand their Molecular Lab and biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) capabilities at their Reynoldsburg Lab facility. The lab includes a new reagent prep and template addition space. While the project square footage was relatively small, it will significantly improve the Department of Health’s testing capabilities.

Since the small renovation project included major mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades to the building, HAWA was chosen to lead the design team. Some of the challenges included adding an air handling unit inside an existing second-floor storage room, working in an occupied secured lab to minimize disruptions to the current testing, and maintaining building services to the existing lab. The project went smoothly thanks to the great team involved. Many thanks to our partners, who include BHDP, Elford Construction, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Department of Health.
