This project consisted of interior renovation of approximately 66,000 square feet of primarily open office space, hardwall offices, conference rooms and miscellaneous support spaces. In addition, there will be a small Research & Development lab included. We reviewed existing drawings of the existing building and performed field review of the building to verify existing conditions. We designed heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection (performance only) and electrical systems associated with the project.
Commissioning:
Commissioning of the mechanical/electrical systems took place at the completion of construction. Basic construction review services include a review of these systems with respect to completion of the work included in the contract documents. Not included is conducting operational testing of systems with the respective contractors to ensure that systems are operating as intended. Commissioning services are provided by our office as an additional service as required.
Sustainability:
Sarnova Dublin Headquarters has been awarded LEED Gold Certification thanks to our team’s expertise in energy efficient and sustainable design. Our engineers accomplished this through the use of solar panels, water-efficient fixtures, energy-efficient lighting working in tandem with an abundance of natural light, replacing the air-handling systems, and replacing the windows to improve heat transfer and indoor air quality.
A notable upgrade feature was replacing two aging rooftop cooling units with high-performance, energy-efficient models. These new units, a well-distributed VAV system, and automatic controls optimize climate control while significantly reducing energy consumption and waste. The facility also received a comprehensive lighting system upgrade, improving efficiency and occupant comfort.
“You can achieve large energy reductions if you attack energy from every building component, envelope, lighting, receptacle load and HVAC systems. The HVAC system wasn’t exotic but was still very efficient” – Jim Porter, PE
