AHR Expo and ASHRAE Winter Conference
Two of our engineers, Jim Porter and Andy Fouss, recently attended the AHR Expo and the ASHRAE Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida. The AHR Expo is the world’s largest HVACR event, exhibiting the latest in technology and providing a setting for discussing industry trends. From a Building Automation & Control Showcase with the latest in climate controls, networked building systems and cloud-based technologies, to the New Product & Technology Theater that featured presentations and demonstrations of monitoring software, rooftop technologies and IAQ-enhancing solutions, the Expo provided valuable insight into what’s going on in our industry.
While Jim was at the AHR Expo, Andy attended the ASHRAE Winter Conference. ASHRAE celebrated its 125th anniversary at the conference, which drew more than 2,800 building professionals from more than 160 countries around the world. The current theme, “Building for People and Performance. Achieving Operational Excellence,” meant a focus on how to ensure operational performance for the people that live, work and interact in buildings. As a voting member of the ASHRAE 90.1 National Energy Code – Mechanical Subcommittee, Andy participated in updating the code and shared with us the results of the committee meeting: ASHRAE 90.1 voted through five new addendum to improve energy efficiency that will go out for first public review. Additionally, ASHRAE 90.1 2019 includes 88 new addendum and is projected to save 45% more energy than the 2004 baseline.
