Nationwide Children’s Central Energy Plant Generator Lift

Nationwide Children’s Central Energy Plant Generator Lift

Nationwide Children’s construction crews delivered a Caterpillar C175 generator unit into the Central Energy Plant. The unit can generate 3900 Kw of power at 13,200 Volts. The generator’s shipping weight is 59,000 lbs.

The photos show the unit being lifted by 4 connection points on the generator skid. The chains are attached to a spreader bar above the engine, and those four chains are attached to the crane’s hook. The spreader bar keeps the chains from squeezing in on the generator and damaging it. The time to lift the generator and set it in the building’s window took about 3 hours. Inside the building, the generator was placed on rollers and pushed and pulled to its final location.
